This page explains how to delete your ScamSense account and the data associated with it. ScamSense can be used without an account; you only have an account if you signed in with email/password or with Google.
In short: You can remove your data yourself inside the app
(Settings → Clear history, then Sign out), or email us to fully delete your account. We complete account-deletion
requests within 30 days.
Option 1 — Delete your data inside the app
- Open ScamSense and go to Settings.
- Tap Clear history to permanently erase your saved checks (this also removes the synced copy in our database if you are signed in).
- Tap Sign out if you no longer wish to use your account.
Clearing history removes your scan data. To also delete the account record itself (your sign-in email/profile held by Firebase Authentication), use Option 2 below.
Option 2 — Request full account deletion
Email us from the address you used to sign in, with the subject line “Delete my ScamSense account”:
So we can verify and locate your account, please include the email address associated with your account. We will confirm once deletion is complete.
What gets deleted
- Your account record — your sign-in email and, for Google sign-in, your name and profile photo held by Firebase Authentication.
- Your synced scan history — the checks stored in your private area of our database (Cloud Firestore), including the message text and verdicts.
- Local data on your device — removed when you Clear history or uninstall the app.
What we keep (and for how long)
- We do not retain the content of messages you check on our servers; our analysis cache stores only an irreversible one-way hash of normalised text plus the verdict, from which the original text cannot be recovered.
- We may retain limited records required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes for as long as the law requires, after which they are deleted.
